4 Reasons 2012 is Going to be AWESOME

It is officially 2012, and although 2011 was full of milestone moments I am happy that it is over. So in the spirit of starting the year off on the right foot here are 4 reasons why I think 2012 will be awesome!

1. I have a really good feeling about 2012. Something tells me it's going to be my year. I have been out of school for about 6 months now, and something deep inside of me tells me that I am on the cusp of having everything come together. So number 1 on my list is starting a new leaf and thinking positively.

2. All my favorite TV shows are back on the air! Now that it's January it is time or winter premieres! Last night Pretty Little Liars came back and I can already tell the show has big things in store for its viewers. Other noteworthy shows returning to the air include Switched At Birth, and 30 Rock!. The new show Are You There Chelsea? Based off of Chelsea Handler's book Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea adds to the Television promise of 2012. Other shows returning after a small Holiday hiatus adding to my January 2012 happiness are Big Bang Theory, Glee, Modern Family, 2 Broke Girls, Revenge, Leverage, and Once Upon A Time. As you can see I watch a lot of TV.

3. Continuing on the Entertainment front, reason number 3 on why 2012 will be awesome is because of the release of the film, The Hunger Games, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutchinson and Miley Cyrus' boyfriend. We have already been delivered a fantastic trailer that has lived up to all of my expectations and gives me a lot of hope that these movies will do the amazing trilogy series written by Suzanne Collins justice.

4. AWARDS SEASON! As a huge movie buff, I love awards season. I even make it my goal to try and see as many films up for nominations as possible. When you do it not only gives you an edge during Oscar party competitions, or in my case a competition against myself, but you also seem really smart and cultured when you can talk about the movies like you know what's up.

What Gets My Juices Going

For the most part I like to think of myself as a friendly, relatively easy going (with the exception of germy places i.e public restrooms or sketchy bars) person. But there are a couple of things that really get me and just make me kind of mad. Here they are listed below in no particular order...

1. Old people driving. I mean, don't get me wrong I like old people...well nice old people. Some of them are just mean and judgy. But old people really should not be driving. It's not their fault, but they either drive so slow they are putting others in danger, or they don't actually know what they are doing. Today for example, I almost got hit by a little old man driving a car. When I honked (lightly) he didn't he seem phased, I'm thinking it was because he couldn't actually hear me.

2. Tim Tebow. Yes, the Jesus loving quarterback really really gets my juices going. I had nothing against the Denver Broncos before he came along. To be honest they weren't even on my radar since they are a team from out West and I didn't have to worry about how their season would affect the Jets. But I am so sick of Tim Tebow and all his praise. The whole I am anti-abortion thing really doesn't help his case either.

Thank goodness their is SNL to poke some fun at a guy who really needs to lighten up on the whole Jesus thing. I'm not saying don't believe but don't push into peoples face Tebow, that's just not classy. See below for the Tim Tebow SNL skit.

That's it for the list. Like I said I am a relatively easy going person.

Broken Heart

Have you ever had your heart ripped out of your chest and then broken into a million pieces?!? Well, I know I have. Just recently I finished up a relationship, and our break up was probably one of the hardest ones I have ever gone through, well that's not exactly true a year ago I suffered similar heartache, but that's because that relationship had gone on for 10 years.

Curse you J.K Rowling. You showed me how to love characters and then killed them. That and the fact that you just finished writing the series, I mean you could have written 40 books and I would have read all of them. And 40 isn't really that much, don't you remember Nancy Drew, and the Box Car Twins?!? There were like hundreds of those and I loved every single one, I still have them all on my bookshelf and refuse to donate them to charity. But I digress, back to my broken heart. Well let's just say getting over J.K Rowling and the loveable baggage of Hermione, Harry, Ron, the twins and even Draco who came with her was very difficult, but eventually it was done when I began a new series with new characters that I learned to love. These new characters consisted of Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen, and what was great about them was I never once thought to myself wow Katniss is so badass but is no Hermione Granger. No these characters were so great there was no need to compare. Side Note: For those of you who don't recognize these names please stop reading this blog and go to the nearest bookstore asap! For those of you who do, read on. But yes Suzanne Collins along with her amazing characters have once again done what not many people can do to me, latched onto my heart and then broken it into a million tiny pieces. So in the spirit of my attachment to fictional characters, which seems greater than that of real people I found this amazing image and posted it below. Enjoy! Oh and if you haven't ready Suzanne's Collins' book The Hunger Games or "gasp" Harry Potter you really need to, otherwise I'm not quite sure you will understand the image below.

That's all for now, Keep Calm and May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor.

The Worst Commercials of 2011

Since I am unemployed I do a lot of three things: 1. watch TV 2. read books 3. surf the internet (not necessarily in that order, because let's be real I can't rank the three things I love, that would be like ranking children). Plus my love for each fluctuates on a day to day basis, I mean sometimes your first born let's call her TV is your favorite until she acts up, like not having anything worthy of my attention. Good thing I'm not planning on having children anytime soon...

Sorry for the tangent, I tend to do that a lot don't I? So back to the three things I love, TV can be great when there is something good on. But even when TV is great, there are always those pesky commercials, and when they are bad they are TERRIBLE! So here are my three top least favorite commercials...like whomever created them...just you wait and see.

Dr. Pepper 10 Commercial: Setting feminism back by 10 years. Not only is this commercials insulting but it's just plain stupid. I mean really? Why wouldn't a woman like to drink Dr. Pepper 10, what makes it so manly. Each time I watch it I get mad and at the same time walk away confused. But what I am most curious about is what the sales are like for this Dr. Pepper 10 drink? I'm hoping bad.

Worst commercial number 2...the Toyota People Person commercial. This was my number one until I saw the Dr. Pepper ad. This commercial is just plain weird, and a little creepy, like every time I see it I get nightmares and imagine those little people people attacking me. Why would I want to drive a car that might have little people hidden in it? I haven't seen this ad in a while, so I am hoping Toyota was able to realize the ad was just plain bad.

Last but not least, the Pudding Face ad. Another weird, kind of twisted ad. Don't advertisers realize we do not want to be scared?! Especially by something we would eat, food should not be scary. That's all I am saying.

And there you have it, my least favorite ads on TV. What are your leas favorite ads from this year?

Hi Let Me Re-Introduce Myself

Sorry for disappearing again, Jeez I apologize to you all a lot about this don't I? Hopefully you will find it in your hearts to forgive me, because I have actually been quite busy working. Yes, your read that correctly I had a job (had being the key word here) but a job non the less. What kind of job may you ask, well I freelanced twice, once as a Production Assistant for the US Open, and the second as a Marketing and Social Media Assistant for the New York Road Runners and ING NYC Marathon (I sound pretty cool right about now don't I).

Although my ultimate goal is to find a full time position being a freelancer isn't all that bad. I like to think of myself as a professional shopper, but instead of shopping around for shoes I shop around for jobs. So it's back to the drawing board I go, or I guess back to shopping around! I do love to shop!

Gahh I'm Overwhelmed...From All This Music!

So there is so much I want to talk to you all about, like the fact that I was about 20ft away from Mother Monster this weekend! Yes, you read correctly I saw Gaga in concert and my high hopes were definitely not disappointed. To be honest she sounds better live then she does on her cd, can't say that about many artists today.

Her concert was super cohesive and perfectly planned out, from the set designs to even the talking that she did in between songs. Not only that but she sang SO MANY SONGS! So many, every single one of her hits plus those that aren't on the radio but are just as amazing. And, if that wasn't great enough she finished off with none other than Born This Way! Let's just the say the night was one big dance party!

Gaga wasn't the only live music I saw this weekend, on Saturday our campus actually brought back a former student named Phil Cohen who pretty awesome! He is more folky but can also drop some sweet beats when it comes to beat boxing. Here's a video someone took of him playing on campus! Definitely give his music a look, he just came out with an EP and I really think he is going to go far, I mean just look at Grace Potter!

In Like A Lion And Out Like A Lamb

Well it is the second day of March and although I am still wearing my down jacket and knit wear scarf I have hope that the month is only going to get better. Just look at the movies coming out!

The first movie I am looking forward to is starring another one of my favorite leading ladies, Amanda Seyfried, I think you all know what movie I am talking about. Yes it is Red Riding Hood, a modern day twist on the story we all know.

The trailer is dark but extremely enticing with some a romantic undertone. Although the film was directed by the same person who directed Twilight, I won't hold it against him. I think Red Riding Hood has a lot of potential like the fact that there will most likely be much better acting...did I forget to mention that Gary Oldman aka Sirius Black is in it too.

The second film I am looking forward to is one that hasn't received too much publicity. It is the story of Jane Eyre, based off the novel by Charlotte Bronte. Now unfortunately I haven't read the book, but after seeing this trailer it is definitely on my to do list for this summer. The movie stars, Mia Wasikowska who was Alice in Tim Burton's rendition of Alice and Wonderland and was also in the Kids Are Alright. She is not as well known as Amanda Seyfried but after seeing her performances in both those films she is slowly becoming one of my favorites and is definitely someone to look out for in the future.

Again another dark trailer but just like Red Riding Hood some more fabulous actors like Dame Judi Dench.

I don't mean to depress you with these dark movies, but that is what is so great about the movies, they allow you to escape. And what better way to escape the lioness characteristic of March then to settle down with a big bag of popcorn and watch a movie. Bring it on March we are ready for you!
